Pain and ageing have many faces.<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Animals cannot put their suffering into words.\nThey show it in subtle changes \u2014 in the way they move, in their behaviour, in the way they withdraw or no longer want to participate.<\/p>

Recognising these signs, understanding them correctly, and taking them seriously is, to me, at the heart of good veterinary medicine.\nI support dogs, cats, and the people who care for them in the fields of pain medicine and geriatrics \u2014 with medical depth and a view of the whole animal.<\/p>

I believe this is where our responsibility begins.<\/p>

My aim is to understand the bigger picture, not just treat symptoms \u2014 and to preserve quality of life for as long as possible.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Osteoarthritis is one of the most common causes of chronic pain in dogs.\u00a0<\/p>

It is a chronic degenerative disease \u2014 not curable, but in many cases very manageable.<\/p>

What is often missing is an understanding of what is happening inside the body \u2014 and how much can actually be done to help.<\/p>

I wrote this book because I wanted to make exactly that more accessible: knowledge that explains connections, reduces uncertainty, and shows that osteoarthritis does not necessarily mean suffering.<\/p>

Dogs with osteoarthritis can still live good, fulfilling lives \u2014 if we understand how to support them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Nearly two decades of clinical and practice experience \u2014 from neurology at the university hospital to emergency medicine, referral clinic, and first-opinion care, through to my own work with chronic pain patients and geriatric animals.
